AbstractThe advent of digital technology has revolutionized clinical dentistry. Facial topography, soft tissues profile, bone morphology, dentition as well as the maxillomandibular relationship can now be fully digitized. The data captured can be combined and manipulated using different computer software and that are useful not only for treatment planning but also the fabrication of various extra-oral or intra-oral prostheses using milling or 3D printing methods. In the lecture, the current literature on intra-oral scanning technology will be presented and discussed. Common errors and biases encountered when reading scientific articles will also be addressed.
