Tetrahedral mixed-metal clusters containing bridging sulfido ligands. Synthesis and crystal and molecular structures of PtOs3(CO)8(PMe2Ph)3(μ 3-S) and Os3W(CO)11(PMe2Ph)2(μ 3-S)

Abstract

The new tetrahedral mixed-metal cluster compounds PtOs3(CO)8(PMe2Ph)3(μ 3-S) (2) and Os3W-(CO)11(PMe2Ph)2(μ 3-S) (4) have been prepared by the reaction of Os3(CO)10(μ3-S) (1) with Pt(PMe2Ph)4 upon mixing at room temperature and with W(CO)5(PMe2Ph) in the presence of UV irradiation in yields of 26% and 27%, respectively, and have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. © 1984 American Chemical Society.
