AbstractThe effect of initiator and poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGdA) concentration and weight percent and type of modified gelatin on the reaction kinetics of PEGdA functional end groups was monitored. An in situ monitoring technique of PEGdA polymerization within the IPN mixture was developed. It was observed that the normalized 1412 cm-1 peak intensity decreased with increasing UV exposure. It was also observed that lowering DMPA and PEGdA concentration reduced the rate of peak decrease and exhibited an increased delay before the onset of polymerization.
