AbstractThis paper seeks to investigate the cultural impacts on adoption behavior at individual level in the context of TAM studies. It is posited that cultural dimensions should play a more key role in assessing the adoption of IS/IT for an individual. In particular, the four cultural dimensions developed by Hofstede are studied in this study, namely uncertainty avoidance, masculinity, individualism, and Confucian dynamism (long-term orientation). Moreover, some hypotheses are suggested here on how to incorporate the above cultural dimensions into TAM when studying IS/IT adoption. This paper concludes that IS/IT adoption studies at individual level should consider the influences of cultural dimensions wherever possible.
