AbstractA fast forward solver for the scattering by dielectric objects buried in the lossy earth based on an extended Born (EBorn) approximation, which is valid in the relevant frequencies is proposed. The extended Born approximation and its variations are efficient algorithms for the scattering by moderately-sized dielectric objects, which reduce the complexity from O(N3) for the conventional method of moments (MOM) to O(N2).
