AbstractThe ability of the fast algorithms to solve scatterers with fine features hinges upon finding a good preconditioner. In this regard, the use of several preconditioners in 3D scattering is explored to ease the disparate grid size problem. The focus is on using the electric field integral equation (EFIE) on infinitesimally thin scatterers. The efficacy of the preconditioners is tested using an infinitesimally thin sector of a disk in the z = 0 plane as a scatterer.
