AbstractWe introduce an efficient and accurate way to evaluate the Casimir force [H. B. G. Casimir, Proc. K. Ned. Akad. Wet. 51, 793 (1948)] between arbitrary z -invariant structures using integral equation method. It casts the evaluation of mean Maxwell stress tensor to a series of traditional two-dimensional electromagnetic scattering problems. The number of times that the scattering problem needs to be solved is independent of the number of unknowns. © 2009 American Institute of Physics.
