AbstractZn ferrite underlayers can improve the crystallinity and the magnetic properties of Co-Ni ferrite layers. Since the saturation magnetization of the Zn ferrite underlayer is not zero, magnetic properties of the Zn ferrite layers are likely to affect the read/write characteristics, such as medium noise. This article discusses the influence of the magnetic properties of the Zn ferrite underlayers on the noise characteristics of the double-layer media.
