AbstractEndotracheal intubation with conventional methods at the time of acute obstruction is not without risk. In these emergency situations, we have found that endotracheal intubation with fiberoptic endoscopic guidance to be an easy, safe and reliable procedure which can relieve obstruction immediately. Further investigations to assess the extent of the stenosis can then be carried out and the subsequent management planned.
