AbstractIn this paper, a 'normal form' for the supply rate of an arbitrary dissipative nonlinear system is proposed. On the basis of this 'normal form', the connection between notions of dissipativeness and stabilizability by linear constant feedback is investigated. It is shown that a dissipative zero-state detectable system can be robust globally asymptotically stabilized by linear constant feedback; some converse theorems are proved.
