AbstractMixed-valence PtIIPtIIIX complexes, Pt2(pop)4Xn- (n = 4; X = Im, Cl, Br, SCN; n = 2, X = 1-MeIm; pop = P2O5H2), have been generated by pulse radiolysis of aqueous solutions of Pt2(pop)4X2 n-. The PtIIPtIIIX species exhibit intense absorptions in the near-ultraviolet region (X = 1-MeIm or Im, 310; Cl, 330; Br, 370; SCN, 390 nm) attributable to σ → σ* transitions. © 1986 American Chemical Society.
