AbstractResonance Raman spectra of CF2I2 in cyclohexane and in methanol solutions were taken with excitation within the directly dissociative A-band absorption. The CF2I2 in cyclohexane solution resonance Raman spectrum is substantially different than that in methanol solution, which suggests that solvent-solute interactions noticeably affect the short-time photodissociation dynamics of CF2I2. We compare the qualitative short-time photodissociation dynamics of CF2I2 and CH2I2 to examine substituent and solvent effects.
