AbstractDisruptive technology continues to arrive in academic libraries, and in many cases disintermediate librarians from the information discovery process. Although it is not clear what results this will have, current trends can be observed. This presentation will discuss these trends and the possible futures that might result from them. Traditional library-centric services and functions will diminish, and new exciting collaborative computer-mediated ones will emerge. In particular, the presenter will discuss how librarians can populate the paradigm of e-science with new services and functions mutually beneficial to researchers, information seekers, and librarians.
