Dr. Marco Kong is currently a Research Assistant Professor in the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Consortium (SCRMC), Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, HKU. He obtained his PhD in electrophysiology in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and subsequently received his post-doctoral trainings in Mount Sinai School of Medicine (renamed to Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2013) in NY, USA. He joined the Research Center of Heart, Brain, Hormone and Healthy Aging (HBHA), Department of Medicine, HKU and switched his research area to stem cell biology in 2009. His current research interests include novel strategies to promote maturation of human pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hPSC-CMs) and disease models derived from human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC).
