Biography

Dr. Kelvin Yeung is passionate in orthopaedic biomaterial research for more than 15 years. His major research areas cover from the development of metallic and polymeric orthopaedic biomaterials, to bone implant design and development as well as musculoskeletal tissue engineering. He received his B.Sc. (Hons) in Materials Science from City University of Hong Kong in 1998 and then studied in The University of Hong Kong medical faculty for master degree and PhD in 2001 and 2005, respectively. He is currently tenured associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, The University of Hong Kong. With respect to his publications, he has published more than 130 peer-reviewed journal papers at the top-journals of the field together with more than 38 filed full patents in various countries. His h-index is 26 and total citations are more than 2,300.

During these years, he had received numbers of award and scholarship from local and regional competitions such as Young Scientist Award 2005 and Young Engineer Award 2009, respectively. The total amount of grants and sponsors directly arising from his projects in PI capacity is over HK$12M. Additionally, he has supervised 6 PhD and 10 MPhil students since 2006. Furthermore, he obtained 18 prizes and awards from local and international competitions and conferences.
