Objectives
To provide detailed information about the age at which each Cantonese tonal contrast is represented within the brain of native speakers. The knowledge of the typical patterns of the acquisition of tone perception will be beneficial to the early diagnosis and treatment of hearing, speech and language disorders in children whose first language is Cantonese, Mandarin or other tonal languages.
