Objectives
In ""The Rhetoric of Economics"", McClosky (1983) started a radical reassessment of the nature of economics as a science. Some of his ideas have been praised, while others have been criticized (see, for example Gladwell and Coats 1984; Rosenberg 1992, pp. 30-55; Maki 1995). At one point, McCloskey berated other economists for their negative views toward the use of questionnaires in research. The purpose of this note is to comment on McCloskey's defense of the questionnaire as a means of collecting scientific data.
