Objectives
To determine the serum HBV-DNA levels and the molecular state (episomal and/or integrated) HBV-DNA in liver tissue in patients with chronic HBV infection and HCC; to characterize and clone the viral/host integration sites in patients with chronic hepatitis B, cirrhosis and HCC and to determine the mechanism leading to carcinogenesis.
