To analyse the current state of economic and political relations between Hong Kong and China in the context of recent developments during this transitionary period; to analyse the impact of these developments on the status of Hong Kong as a regional economic centre; to examine how China's policy towards Hong Kong may have implications on the way the Asian region perceives China as a growing regional power; to analyse the ramifications of the evolving Hong Kong-China relations on the region's economy, politics and security.
