Objectives
To establish the involvement of [kappa]-opioid receptor in the delayed cardioprotection of IP in animal and human models in vivo and in vitro; to determine the role of PKC and the related mechanisms - K(ATP) channels and NHE - in mediating the delayed protection of [kappa]-opioid receptor; to determine whether the protein effectors are involved in delayed cardioprotection of preconditioning with [kappa]-opioid receptor stimulation; to study the Ca+2 homeostasis involved in delayed cardioprotection of preconditioning with ischaemia or [kappa]-opioid receptor agonist.
