2 Build a substantive longitudinal dataset that characterizes polycentric development, urban spatial structures, and household CO2 emission for a large set of cities in China 3 Examine empirically the channels through which urban form affects direct household emission, based on structural equation models, a comprehensive survey of CO2 emission, and a novel measure of polycentric urban patterns at the intra-city scale 4 Assess the overall impacts of polycentric cities on CO2 emission, and inform polycentric urban development policies
