Objectives
1 To test the effect of nanoparticle loading on the physicochemical properties, aerosol performance, and dissolution behaviour of spray freeze dried large porous carriers. 2 To produce blank porous carriers by spray drying solutions containing the carrier former and pore-forming agent and characterise their physicochemical properties and aerosol performance. 3 To test the effect of nanoparticle loading on the physicochemical properties, aerosol performance, and dissolution behaviour of spray dried porous carriers. 4 To measure the rate of drug transport across an airway epithelial cell model after dispersing the optimal spray freeze dried and spray dried nanoparticle-loaded carriers.
