Objectives
2 For the three term Fermat type functional equations, try to settle at least one or two of the cases n=6 (for entire solutions), 7 and 8 (meromorphic solutions) and hence solve the long-standing problem(s) asked by Hayman as well as Gundersen. 3 Try to study the three term Waring-type equations to see if Hayman’s result can be sharpened. 4 Train one or two graduate students to work on general Fermat-type or Waring-type functional equations and related problems in complex differential equations.
