1) To develop and investigate a method for fabricating metallic nanostructures on fiber facets and sidewalls; 2) To understand the coupling mechanisms between fiber-based plasmonic structures and fiber-guided light; 3) To demonstrate and evaluate fiber-based SERS sensors for in-situ and remote chemical detection.
