Electric vehicles (EVs) run on electricity, and are propelled by an electric motor powered by rechargeable battery packs or with flywheels. EVs have superior advantages over vehicles with internal combustion engines: energy efficiency, reduced tailpipe pollutants, and reduced carbon emission. However, EVs still face many challenges including complex and difficult operation-condition control and public concern over the safety. Advanced sensing technology can help overcoming these two problems.
