Objectives
1) Observe a variety of different natural phenomena, such as particles, fabrics, threads, foliage, fluids, and herds, to decide how to decompose their dynamic motions and geometric structures into large scale themes and small scale repetitions; 2) Design general analysis algorithms to decompose a given phenomenon into large scale themes and small scale repetitions for both motions and geometry; 3) Design general synthesis algorithms that can produce outputs with matching small scale geometric and dynamic repetitions to the input while satisfying user specified large scale themes and other application specific objectives; 4) Demonstrate a variety of applications (e.g. particles, threads, foliage, fluids, and herds) that can benefit from our approach, with advantages over prior methods in terms of easy usage, generality, controllability, efficiency, stability, and quality; 5) Project future research directions for understanding, analysis, and synthesis of natural repetitions.
