Objectives
1) Develop and explore a novel approach for generating large scale quantum entanglement in a general spin ensemble based on collective raising and lowering operations; investigate the emergence of entanglement between various parts of the ensemble, and the squeezing of collective spin and its uncertainties that accompanies the entanglement generation. 2) Find efficient and technically feasible schemes for the implementation of this approach in nuclear spin systems and other physical systems; explore potential applications and develop schemes for utilizing the generated entanglement in these systems. 3) Investigate the effects of loss mechanisms on the efficiencies of entanglement generation and spin squeezing, and methods to remedy such deleterious effects.
